Hello. New guy around these parts.

Are there recommended books, or online writings, covering the history and manufacturing of V.B.?

I'm mostly interested in the shotguns of course. Details for the various models produced with details such as: Years of mfg, quantities produced, chokes, chambering, options, etc...I've been doing some web research but there isn't a whole lot of information other than a few posts scattered about forums and the blue books.

The only book I know of; there may be others and someone will come up with an answer, is 'Encyclopaedia of Shotguns and Other Game Guns' by A.E.Hartink I think the book was originally written in the Netherlands but English translated copies are available ISBN 1 84053 116 9 It lists a lot of different gun makes and their specifications and models. There a few pages on Bernadelli listing and illustrating various models. A useful book to have on the bookshelf. It should contain what you say you are looking for. Lagopus…..

old Shooters Bibles from the 50's and 60's will have 3 or 4 pages of ads with specs and prices for that year

I ordered a copy of the 'Encyclopaedia of Shotguns and Other Game Guns' by A.E.Hartink and also a copy of "The World of Beretta".

I'm trying to up my firearms related book collection. Any other suggestions for a list of must haves?

I would suggest; The Gun & its Development by W.W.Greener. 9th. edition of 1910. The British Sporting Gun & Rifle by Donald Dallas. The British Shotgun (three volumes) by I.M.Crudgington & D.J.Baker. Any of Diggory Hadoke's books (Vintage Guns. Hammer Guns and British Boxlocks). Any by Geoffrey Boothroyd. The three volumes of The Modern Shotgun by Major Sir Gerald Burrard Bt. D.S.O. I'm sure others will want to add to this list with details of books of a more specific nature. The ones I have listed are general but also comprehensive in content. Good hunting. Lagopus…..

"Buxton's Guide to Foreign Firearms" tells you what Bernie models were available in the early 60's and how much they cost.

Michael McIntosh's "Gun Review Book" covers a lot of ground and contains a chapter on the Bernardelli Italia, one of their hammerguns. In the same book, in his "Best Buys" chapter, he discusses the Bernardelli Roma series.

As noted above, much of what you'll find on Bernardellis comes in bits and pieces, like what I've added here.

"The Italian Gun" by Steve Smith and Laurie Morrow has a brief chapter covering V. Bernardelli.
