Greetings from Tasmania, a state of Australia. I would appreciate assistance with identifying the maker of a gun I have. It is marked on the rib as retailed by Arthur Conyers of Blandford in Dorset, UK. It is a SBS 8 pin sidelock ejector 12g gun with 2 inch chambers. It has original black powder proofs from late 1800's, and the last are Nitro proofs as late as 1977. It has a most unusual single selective trigger without manual switch, which is in the shape of a half circle; push it forward and the L barrel is selected. Can anyone assist please? I'm hoping to be able to post some photos as this post progresses. https://www.usedguns.com.au/pics/016-2019-11-07_03-22-52-PM.jpg

Another welcome on your first post here. Nice looking gun and a really strange trigger selector. The pic offers no clue to me of the maker. Could you possibly post some pics of the barrel and action flats which show the proof information and possibly a clue to the identity of the maker...Geo

The trigger is by W. Baker. If you can get a copy of The Sporting Goods Review for July 15th 1902 it features a nice cut away line drawing of exactly that trigger.

Patent No.19,430 of 1901 (W. Baker) for a single trigger. It appears to be a modification/improvement of Baker's previous patent No.2650 of 1900.
If you'd like a copy of the abridged patents - email me at stephen@johnrigbyandco.com

Welcome, Jeff. That's a beauty of a double, and the trigger is very interesting. Thanks for posting the pics, and thanks to Mr. Tate for the identification, and Mr. Helsley for the additional information. Well done.

Interesting gun and professional commentary. Jeff, an off-topic question. Are there really "devils" in Tasmania?
