Can anyone tell me definitively if these hulls are Cheddites? I cannot find this shell on the Clever website, but assume that a new numerical designation has been given them ....... the T4 line. High, nickel plated heads.
I picked up a couple hundred of them recently just because they look so cool. Thought they might make a nice hull for my 1 1/8 oz. bismuth duck loads, if suitable.
Thanks, SRH

This guy seems to think Clever hulls are from MAXAM aka Rio. https://www.clay-shooting.com/reviews/richard-atkins-tests-two-new-shotgun-loads/All the euro hulls are so similar, I wouldn't be too concerned. They likely load the same as Cheddite, Rio, Fiocchi. Guess it depends on the basewad height as to what you can stuff in there. The T4 may have a different capacity than the usual Cheddite.

I'm pretty sure my MEC equipment won't size that tall head.

T-4 is merely an Italian designation for the height of the hull's head. It does not necessarily indicate the base wad height as it often did in paper hulls of the past. Used to be that 'high brass' hull's had low base wads and the high brass was to prevent burn-through's, cut-off's and pinholes w/stiff charges of powder. Today, you can find varied head heights w/the same plastic base wads in many of them. There is no reason not to use the hulls you've picked up. T-5 is the highest head designation, I believe tho I may be mistaken on that. To the best of my knowledge, all Clever hulls are made by Cheddite, but its been several years since I was given that answer by someone that was with them.
A Versa-MEC will size T-4 brass & I'm thinking that a 600 jr. may also by changing the bolt length on the sizer die, but its been a long while since I was sizing high brass hulls in that manner. The older Lackmiller sizers handled them just fine and had a stout spring that would slam the base wads down as well after the spent primer was ejected. Collet type MEC resizers [Size-Master] may be used on T-4 brass as well as I just verified w/a new loaded round of Italian RC-4 28 gram copper plated or washed steel-headed ammunition but comes up shy on Clever Mirage 1300fps BOL D'OR 28 gram ammunition w/nickel plated or washed T-5 steel head's. --
Rio hulls use a much larger dia, primer than Cheddite's. You may want to mike one that's been ejected just to be sure it isn't larger than what you intend to replace it with. If so, you will either have to buy replacement Rio primers or Noble Sport, another larger than Cheddite brand. You don't want a loose primer fit or one coming out in a waterfowl load & ruining the hunt and the ammunition or jamming the gun. You can find a lot of information regarding that subject in the reloading forum on Shotgun World.

I've got lots of Cheddite primers. It the hulls are indeed Cheddites they should fit perfectly. If not, I may scrap the idea rather than buy Rio or NS primers.
As far as the resizing goes I will use my Mec Supersizer to resize the long heads. I've gotten to where I do that on any hulls with bases higher than a low base target load hull, including .410s.
Thanks for the info, SRH

Tw, my 4 flats of Rio target loads are Cheddites. They are ead ringers for the primed Cheddites I bought this winter withe the two 5-pt stars. Both have large primer pockets.

Not reloading related, but I'll say this: that Clever RX4 is one fine target shell. Low recoil, patterns great. I actually shoot the RX3 1 oz. @ 1220 fps, and it's a better shell than I am a shooter... JR
