Walt, we cannot see the actual pad, but I'd "guess" that the box contained a solid pad like the American Silver. That pad was later, around 1915 at least, called the Grieb, and later yet, the Goodrich.

Yes Drew that is from an H & D Folsom catalog. By the 1937 Jostam catalog they were marketing the B.F. Goodrich pads --
