Was anyone successful at Morphy's? I did not bid this time. My impression on the English/European SxS is that they underperformed expectations relative to estimates on the whole. Lower condition "best" quality items sold below estimates. The higher condition still brought good prices. What happened with that Hartman & Weiss rifle? It was estimated at $15-$25 and hammered for $73,800.

Do you know what the two Purdey's went for? How about that Boss pair? I wanted to bid on that Purdey two barrel set but spent my money at the Southern.

The two barrel set went for $12K the other for $9k plus buyers fees, 20-25% depending on bidding platform. The Boss pair brought $24K plus fees.

I managed to buy the William Defibaugh Bedford County Long Rifle. Shipping those long skinny boxes gets me nervous. My wife and I drove down to Denver yesterday to pick it up. I expected a nice place, but WOW. If I would have known the way things were organized and displayed I would have planned to spend a few hours there. It is great place, well run, with very helpful people working there. If you live within driving distance, make the trip.

Well that says a lot about English gun prices. I should have bid on the single Purdey.

Hi Stephen,
Country Pursuits has had the rifle for sale for sometime at 175K. I too expected that rifle to do quite well, the caliber, condition, and then of course the provenance not to mention the hammer price being a fraction of the price of a new one and no wait time. Way, way out of my league but I think the buyer did well.

SKB et al;

Does anyone remember what Bror Von Blixen's more famous wife's rifle sold for some years ago at auction in the UK?
