Hello All. A friend recently sent me a picture of a shotgun another friend had. It was made by Marlin and ejects out the bottom. Niether my friend or his friend knew anything about it. I'd like to read up on such a gun, but I have no idea what the model # is so I can start my online sleuthing in this matter. Any of you guys have any idea what the model # is?

Thanks in advance and please forgive the diversion into strange territory.

To my knowledge, Marlin never manufactured a bottom ejecting shotgun.

Bottom eject pumps: Remington 17, 10/10A, & 29; Ithaca 37/87; Browning BPS .
Savage/Stevens 350(Chinese import- 37 Ithaca clone).

Bottom eject semi-autos: Remington 105CTi, Beretta UGB 25 Xcel

None of the hammer or hammerless models were bottom eject afaik.
Last of the orig hammerless (m63) was still side eject.
The 120 was as well in the 70's.
The Marlin/ LaSalle(?) imports were standard configuration.

Might be something from their R&D shop that they thought about making.
Maybe one of the imports not unlike the Chinese M37 that Marlin toyed with importing with their name on it.
They get a few made up for show and tell, then the bosses look them over,,grumble and walk away. End of idea.

Thanks guys. I really wish I could have seen the gun in question, in person.

I've had my great grandfathers Marlin Grade "C" model 1898 since 1964. This is a external hammer gun and was Marlin's first pump. I looks similar to a Winchester 1897. It ejects from the side but loads from the bottom. It's a beautiful gun and I cherish it. Got my very first perfect score on trap with it.
Several variations of the model 1898 operated the same way up to (I think) 1931. Mine was made in 1901.
