New on A Break in the Action - reuniting separated shotgun pairs (and trios and even quartets). Listen here: https://www.abreakintheaction.com/podcast/episode/4a88d311/reuniting-pairs-of-shotguns

Love to hear some feedback and for your help spreading the word on my podcast. I do it for fun and it is painfully hard to attract new listeners... frown Anyone with tips or connections to help me grow = GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Ryan,

I listened to this yesterday. Adam's audio was a little garbled and Ashley's came in perfect--not sure why. After listening to them, I went to the matched pairs website thinking they had made some changes, but it is the same site with no updates. Joe Hall's picture is still on the site. Joe started an interesting concept of matching broken up pairs. There are a lot of single listed looking for a match. It would have been nice to know the actual success rate. As you may be finding out, you enter your gun, but never hear anything. Joe did call me on a match to my number 2 gun; he saw the number 1 gun coming up for auction. Somebody liked it more than I did.

I did like the short discussion on steel shot and where the UK shell manufacturers are working to support steel in 2 1/2" guns. It will be interesting to see where they are at the beginning of next year's season.

Your Sidelever Atkin sounds like a nice gun. Atkin may not be a "top tier" maker, but he definitely made some best guns.

I came upon this site some years ago sponsored by "The Field" Magazine, which is searching for missing guns which were made as pairs. They have all sorts of makers...Churchill, Holland and Holland (really a who's who of English gun makers).

http://www.matchedpairs.com/seeking_list.php

I was interested in Reilys. They had posted these serial number for Reilly's (I believe Riley is a misspelling - they look like E.M Reilly SN's). So at least these guns likely had a mate.

Reilly
27785, 27786, 27787, 33859, 231559 (probably 31559), 33915, 535521 (probably 35521), (1st three guns look like triples)
Riley
1832, 24956, 25723, 27854, 30364, 30486, 32941, 33240, 33265, 33889, 35134, 35156, 35350, 35572, 35631,

I contacted the site: Joehall@matchedpairs.com. - hoping to obtain more Reilly's for my database. Joe Hall, now a senior editor, could not help much. He said Adam Morton now runs the matched-pair business. ajmorton88@me.com . I wrote Mr. Morton but never received a response. I did forward a complete list of extant Reilly pairs, the three pairs I've helped reunite, and a list of extant Reilly's which appear to be missing a pair. Unfortunately nothing came of the contact. But the concept is an interesting one.
