Does anyone here know of the late Ed Mason, a Memphis gunsmith? Did he specialize in 19th century sporting arms? Especially British?

One, on line source suggests that he specialized in AR platform rifles, but this has to be a different Ed Mason.

Thanks.

I will have to think, but he was a buddy of Highsmith & I believe Mason's son is carrying on the trade? I think Mason & Highsmith were together @ one point or maybe it was that in later years Highsmith had a bench in Mason's structure?

Mrs. Highsmith would be a Best source.

They both had separate spaces inside Dowdle Sporting goods and they both were interested in English rifles and SxSs....I wouldn't say they specialized in them. Ed had two sons working for him so they pretty much worked on anything. The two sons gave Ed more free time to work on what he enjoyed doing. Both Ed and Hysmith were capable of high quality work.

Hysmith just didn't give a damn about nothing....If you went to Hysmiths window with an 870 he would point down the hall and mumble something to the effect of "take it Mason".

Ed's son Bob has no such space and last I heard people were having trouble getting their Guns back from him. Ed's other son Mark moved to Florida and went into another line of work. Ed moved down there with him before Ed died Mark would sometimes call me and say here talk to Ed while I run into Home depot.
