I have some FN brass here which uses the 0.217" primers

I thought I had some primers here but no
I thought I had a source for some but evidently no

Can anyone here steer me in the direction of some Berdan primers?

Thanks

Berdan primers can be removed by filling the case with water and using a piston, very close to the size of the case mouth, and a hammer to hydraulically force them out. I have seen it done but never was able to do it myself. I think the primers I had were crimped in for machine guns.

I don't know how boxer primers compare in size (.217?) but boxer primers with the anvils removed can be used as Berdan. Haven't done it wouldn't recommend it. It seems impractical unless you really need to do it.

Sounds like a serious PITA. What’s the point?

Berdan primers are easy to remove dry
No water necessary

Seating them is really no different than boxer primers

My only obstacle here is getting my hands on a stash of 5.5mm Berdan primers

Nothing difficult about the process
I have a few hundred primed, never fired cases for the caliber
It would be wasteful to not use them
It's good brass
