If I have to ask how much, I cannot afford it.

I already know that I am unable/unwilling to afford it so I will ask the question: How Much does this cost?

It seems that even in the land of the 12 ga. game gun, and light-for-gauge loads for birds, the siren call of the .410 cannot be resisted. Interesting.

I well remember when on this very board a few of us were chastened for even considering the use of a .410 for doves and quail. Such was called unsportsmanlike and irresponsible. Those nay-sayers are mostly silent. Amazing what a British video can do to change minds.

May God bless America and those who defend her.

I can accept that premise you advocate Stan, not living in a State like yours that has dove and quail seasons. I still recall the low esteem in which my "old school" gunning heroes: Nash Buckingham, Ray P. Holland , Paul A. Curtis and George B. Evans held the "sub-gauge" scatterguns. I will turn 81 on election day this year(The Good Lord willin' and the creek don't rise) kinda old to be teaching an old dog like me new tricks, and in order to afford a good quality .410 today (think Pigeon Grade M42 or a VHE Paaarkar-- ) Imost likely have to sell (in a depressed market) some of my prized 12 gauge "Perfect Repeaters".. My oldest grandson has become hooked on waterfowling with me, going out again this Sat. am for, hopefully, a repeat of last Saturday's hunt, both of us shooting Model 12's. RWTF

I am going to weigh in just because of recent events. A friend recovering from back injurie and has been shooting .410 instead of his usual 12 on clays and fall off is not much. I believe he could shoot .410 on doves and quail and not miss many more than with his 12.
On the flip side I just returned from Scotland and shot driven pheasant and partridge. Out of 17 different drives only 1 would have been ok for such small gauge work. We had high winds and steep terrain. This was my first such outing but I was shooting with very experienced guns that all felt some of our drives were the most difficult they had ever seen. Provided the keeper set you up in a good setting and the weather cooperated this is possible but I would say for experts only.
