This beautiful buttplate is on one of my restocked guns. I can not identify it and hope someone else can?

Is that an "ER"? Eliphalet Remington?

I see a lower case "r", a capital "E" and a capital "S". Unfortunately, I have no idea who that was.

Stallones:

This buttplate is pictured in Semmer's excellent "Remington Double Shotguns" book, on page 115 with the following caption: "This is the type of buttplate used on a heavy 10-gauge Model 1885 in Grade 5. I have not found this plate on any other 1885 or 1887. Plates used on light 10-gauges and other grades have the ERS logo within a circle."

Leighton: I believe the same buttplate is shown on p. 21 of Double Gun Classics in an article about refinishing a Remington

Could some of that filigree entwining the S be a &, replacing the "and" in Recoils Rob's E. Remington & Sons
