For you guys who own a drilling... Do you utilize it much in the field? What have you bagged with the gun? Just curious.

Getting a nos leupold compact 2-7 as we speak mounted, plan on using on yotes late winter.
It was lots of fun killing squirrels with scope and tight chokes when I was young.

Haven't posted here in eons, but this question deserves answers! I had a few drillings 15/20 years ago and took: cow elk, antelope, mountain grouse, pheasant, sharptail and a buffalo (buffalo was not a hunt, more like a shoot in a feedlot). Never got within range on a deer. They were very fun to use, but not terrible practical where I hunt deer and got tired of not taking shots that would have been easy with a bolt action.

I've recently bought a SXS combo gun, so getting ready to be frustrated on long range shots again!

I did have a nice Greifelt in 16x16x 8x57JR but not scoped. I often regret selling it as it was nicely engraved with boar and roe deer with fine style engraving. I do still own one which is a Greifelt also but a plain action and scoped. It is in 16x16 .22rf. having been re-tubed from a 7x57R sometime in the 1950's. It ought to get more use than it does. Mine is balanced well, thin struck barrels 27.5 in long 6.8lbs gun. It’s okay for birds but not one that I grab when truly bird hunting. I think mine handles better than the 25” Churchill or the copycats( only used Spanish version). Ain’t saying much though.

My J.P. Sauer hammer gun is 16X16X11.15X65. I shoot it very seldom. I am waiting for the opportunity to get the shotgun barrels and rifle barrel to shoot together with #6 lead shot in 16 gauge and .410, slugs, buckshot, and .44 caliber bullets. If I succeed, what a gun that will be.
