I purchased this 16ga trimmer and a 12ga trimmer from Ebay on February 10.

They arrived Saturday March 11 with tracking information provided by seller. It was a very professional transaction.

I'm pleased to say these are very well made, SOLID and durable.

You can chuck them into a drill but I just trimmed some hulls manually. One spin and done.

Price was very reasonable at $19.99 each plus $12 shipping for one or two pieces.

If you are looking for a good hull trimmer this is an excellent option.

Can you replace or sharpen the cutting part ?

I use a table saw and use a fixture that I made. Works great but make sure to use a fine tooth plywood blade.

I use this 2" chop saw from Harbor Freight and plastic jig from an Ebay seller to cut longer 12 ga. hulls down to 2" for my 2" 12 ga. guns. Gil

How do the eBay trimmers work? Can you show a picture with a hull inserted?

The shell rim fits in the slot which overhangs the right side of the saw assembly with the open end of hull in the opposite direction. The saw is dropped over the hull. It doesn't cut completely through on one drop, the hull is rolled with the right hand turning the exposed rim until cut through with saw down and running. The saw doesn't drop deep enough to cut on one drop because of effective cutting radius of 2" blade. Gil

I’ve used the EBay trimmers. Mine are the finger guard-less version. The 20 and 12 gauge were very tight inside the hull. I took about .010 off them on my metal lathe. They worked well and I found an X-acto blade which quickly trimmed down to replace a worn out blade. I used my 12 version to trim 5,000 Fiocchi hulls to 67mm and the 20 gauge version to trim 3,000 Remington hulls to 67mm. After this all my low pressure, short chambered loads will go into these two basic hulls. One wad supply for each, one powder for each about as simple as possible for safe, economical loads for my needs.

I think the seller ought to sell packs of new trimmed blades in packs of ten and turn the main shaft about .1mm smaller. On soft hulls they work as is but on stiffer side walled hulls like AA and Remington they are too tight. The finish on them is excellent by the way.

Chuck them up in a drill. I adjusted the bolt so it hit bottom of the inside of the hull with the blade trimming down the hull to 67mm. Put the hull over the bolt end and run the drill as you move the hull upwards until it hits bottom. Withdraw and you are done. I put a bin of hulls on one side and drop them into a second bin once trimmed. I do recommend you get one of those self locking nuts and replace the bolt that comes with it with a longer bolt. You almost run out of threads adjusting to about 62mm length which trimmed my hulls to an overall length of 67mm. Self locking nut kept it from moving when used either tighter or looser. You can spin the blade around to cut in the opposite direction for our left handed users.

Simpler, cheaper, timmings don't get hung up, always the correct length as it doesn't index on the base wad, and you cand do a case of hulls while you watch TV

I haven't made a 16ga yet, will have to look into that. For 16s I'm using a 2x4 cut to 2.5" and holes drilled in it to fit close to 16ga. Stick the hulls in and cut them off with a sharp knife.

I use something similar. I measured the diameter of a 12 ga high wall hull then bought an appropriately sized wood bit. I tacked 2 2x4 together then cut them to 2.5 inches in width. I then drilled holes using the acquired bit and with a slightly larger bit than the diameter of the rim of the hull inset the holes so the shell would seat flush.

My jig has 14 holes and I can quite easily cut 500 rounds per hour. I am a waterfowl outfitter and have a great supply of spent 3" hulls that I use. Every so often I change ammunition supplier so I've used Winchester, Federal Kent and now the Canadian Challenger hull. Each requires a bit of adjustment for depth of the load and I cut or add to my 1/2 fibre lubed wads accordingly. I roll crimp and have given up on skiving the mouths as I don't see much difference between skived and un-skived.
