Just picked up a Flintlock double marked BOOTH CHATHAM. This gun is a 21 Ga and has 34 inch BBLS .London Proofed In Fine original condition.
thought to be made in 1790's.
Maker is probably William Booth who worked in Philadelphia 1798-1818 where he made and RENTED flintlock Duelers. He sold out to
Richard Constable in the 1810's.
Any information this Maker-while in England and America appreciated.
Any examples of his works?

Just arrived in post yesterday is a copy of American Gun Makers by Gluckman. There is a William Booth listed at 85, S. Front St. Philadelphia Pa. in 1798 and on South Second St. from 1799 until1816 and a further listing at Narberth Pa. Not much in my England books except for a R. Booth listed at Sunderland and Durham. Best I can do at the moment but still looking. Lagopus.....

Just done a bit more digging and come up with a William Booth at Chatham in Kent England who was in business in 1792. Lagopus.....

A double shotgun fantasy fulfilled would be to own a sweet little flintlock like that, and make a double on ruffed grouse with it. Thanks for sharing.
