Was hoping someone here is familiar with some of these markings. There are a couple of stamps I’m not familiar with.

-- MS = M. Serre Ft (Fabricant=maker) in St Etienne, e.g. 15 rue Chapelon in the early 1930s.
-- Godard = Ferdinad Godard, the retailer.
-- Lamotte-Beuvron = small town just south of Orleans where Godard was located. (See below)
-- F&Gs in oval? - not clear enough photo to make out - probably the barrel maker.
-- BR or 3R in oval on water table - not clear enough to make out.

F&Cs in the oval is canonnier FANGET. The 3R in the oval on the flats I assume is the inspector marks?

Is there any further info on M.Serre, small shop, conglomerate or state manufacturer?

We've discussed Serre several times. It is on several guns we've looked at. I finally got some information and the address off of Passionlachasse.FR (edit: Actually it was WILDCATTLE from our site) with a note that he was a "well known Saint Etienne gunmaker in the 1930's." But nothing seems to bounce back today. We'll wait for FAB500.

WILDCATTLE identified the address of M. Serre as 15 rue Chapelon. However, not sure that existed in 1930...there was a Place Chapelon.

Likely the most important thing for the original poster is the gun is made to be used with smokeless powder.

Rick, I notice you posted the gun on Passionlachasse.fr at virtually the same time you queried us here. Please let us know if you find anything out this board didn't uncover.
