I want to take the buttstock off my newly acquired 1878 Greener A&D BLNE. It has the typical Greener side safety.

I assume that I should set the safe to fire to disengage it from the triggers, but otherwise dismantle like any other A&D boxlock.

Is anyone aware of any hidden pitfalls that I should know about?

Take it apart like any a&d gun. The safety will not be involved. It's a very simple mechanism.

Thanks Hammergun,

Good to know, but glad I asked first before grabbing my screwdrivers,
