What are you traders seeing for current activity for SxS's and pre-WW1
collectable guns? I'm thinking of downsizing the pile but I don't go to shows and don't trust what listings are on the web.

Were you thinking private sale, consignment or auction? Good stuff has a decent market but I find anything not in good condition to be a bit soft. Where and how you sell it makes a lot of difference. If you want top dollar, nobody will buy stuff quickly as quickly as an auction but auctions can be underwhelming in prices more often than they are overbid.

I’ve sold a lot of lower end stuff on auctions like Gunrunner and now LS&B for slightly better stuff. In the first I drive up to their location and the later makes trips around the country picking up lots as they go. I’ve bought many more from LS&B and all transactions have been great. I have sold more guns on Gunrunner than bought from them. Also east to deal with.

I really need to prune back the project guns I have and those need to go to Gunrunner. They have two locations now. Their market seems to be lower end than LS&B but both will take what you have. Gunrunner charges less percentage but has a smaller following. I just don’t have the patience to deal directly with people or Gunbroker. I’ll pay to get rid of those headaches.

A friend of mine just talked to a well known gun dealer here in the U.S.He was more or less told that 12 bore English gun market is real soft at this time. In fact he did not even want to take my friend's Boss in on trade for a pair of guns he was selling.
I have always been told that quality sells. But I think that all my English guns have probley decreased in value.
None the less I suppose they will go in the coffin with me.

I hope that's a joke, Mike. That would be a very selfish move, imo. Give them to someone worthy of being their next good steward rather than basically destroying them.

well, as a retiring small volume hobby gun dealer, ah will report that this year has been the best for doublegon sales since 2008...

so long as consigners of quality merch are realistic about current market values, now is a great time to convert your no longer wanted treasures into...

cash...

I listed my rebarreled Tolley SLE last year at about 3K and let it go for $2200 after a few months of price cuts. The buyer was thrilled when he got it.

The next cheapest SLE on GI was 3K. I suspect many sit for a very long time.

gunsinternational provides a listing history file for each seller...

my file began in 2008 and contains a history of what some doubleguns sold for, then and now...

for example, i sold a 20 gauge fox sterlingworth with 28" barrels in 2009 for $1500.....i recently sold a similar gun for $2000...

if anyone would like sales history data on other collectible guns, contact me via pm and i will see what i can do for you...
