Hard to tell but I would check the ribs as the top rib does not marry to well up to the back end fixed rib .Could have been strip and relayed or could be loose .
Best safe than sorry

I'm going to go over it in great detail when it arrives to check everything. Anything that is suspect will get it shipped to a competent gunsmith specializing in fine shotguns.

I know from the proof marks on the flats that it was a Birmingham gun that was proofed sometime between 1904 and 1925. So, at 100 years old, I'd expect that it may have seen a strip and relay at some point.

While educating myself this evening, I came across this clip of Simon Reinhold where he mentions the London gunmakers offering Birmingham boxlocks and mentions the J. Robertson trade name specifically.

Not that confirmation from Boss & Co. wasn't enough, but it's always nice to learn more of the story behind it. Hoping to have this one in my hands by the end of the week.

Tallen702,
Look at the left side of the breech face. You should see a small screw. That
captures the disk (which is more like a cup) in the receiver ball. That is
removed as part of the disassembly process. I have owned a number of
Boswell's that were so designed.
