Thanks for the add to the group.

From my earliest memories my Dad had what I have learned is a Drilling gun, which I always called a triple barrel. I recall from my teens he told me it was two 16 gauge shotgun barrels over what he thought was a .25-35 rifle. After my Dad passed it went to my brother, but recently he gave it to me. The little bit of research I've been able figure out I think it was finished by the P. Oberhammer - München group or company, barrels are marked with the Krupp Stahl marks. It also has the Nitro markings on both sides of the shotgun barrels. It's not in particularly great shape and the Stahl markings are nearly worn off, or they were very lightly stamped.

All this leads me to believe this is a fairly run of the mill 1950's German Drilling gun, 16 ga x 16 ga and probably something like a 6.5 caliber under rifle, or I could be completely wrong. Was hoping to have that confirmed by persons far more knowledgable than myself. Please post if I need to provide better pics.

Wonderful unique drilling! Looks like it had a steel butt plate with hatch for cartridges. Several here can help with calibre. You can always do a cast to be sure. Thanks for sharing pics, really special gun for us German gun guys.

Indeed, P. Oberhammer & the tubes should read something like P. Oberhammer Munchen Königl. Bayr. Hofbüchsenmacher or Kgl Hofbüchsenmacher, where he bought a Royal Appointment that requires a yearly fee.

I read it as 6,3X52R and a Repair date of July 1922/1928 where it was made in Zella - Mehlis and passed thru the Zella-Mehlis Proof Facility then.

It reminds me of a basic Gustav Fukert design, but Oberhammer may have had his own design & Patent Protection.

Thanks for the info - this is all new to me. So if it has repair marks of July 1922 / 1928 how do I determine when it was originally made? is there any way to source an appropriate butt plate? I'm thinking of having it cleaned up/restored a bit then display as a decorative piece as I just like the way it looks, have enough other functional guns for shooting/hunting. At some point the firing pin for the rifle section was removed, don't know how or if I could get that fixed. Last question is what if anything is it worth? Need to know if I should list it as a valuable item on the insurance, it's true value is just nostalgia for me and something I'll pass down to my boys.

Um, with a fresh set of rested eyes the repair date is March 1928. So to date it before that would require the original set of touchmarks or a patent for the mechanical contrivance. Some German mechanic in the U.S. of A. can fit a proper buttplate. New England Custom Gun Service is just one such concern.

Value, not a whole lot but it deserves so much more with all the moving components....

But back to the buttplate, it hosts a cartridge trap opening, more than likely metal to access the cartridge holes and it was accompanied by green felt or similar. Finding one of those would prove to be quite difficult.

Value, well I do not have it in hand, but if it functions and the rifling isn't deeply pitted, I am sure it is well worth $500 U.S. of A.
