Can anyone give me the Ph # of a smith to relay a rib on an English SXS percussion gun with Damascus barrels? Thanks, LK

Longknife, Since you are in Illinois, I would suggest Del Whitman who is located in Traverse City Michigan. I believe he laid ribs for Rigby. He's done some very good work for me in the past. I hope this helps, Karl

Del couldn't give me an estimate right away. I just purchased this gun online and received it yesterday, The lifted rib wasn't disclosed so I need to negotiate a partial refund or send it back in three days.

Relaying a rib is an expensive proposition .if you want to see what can go wrong with a partial repair look at Devon gunsmith files on you tube he attempts a repair but ends up.relaying the rib.good luck

I got a quote from AM Little Bespoke Gunmakers LLC, $1000 but he does not rebrown the barrels.

Unless it is a really nice, unique, or high grade gun, you might want to just send it back. Getting the rib relaid and the barrels rebrowned as per your other post is going to set you back a good amount of money. It will also take a considerable amount of time.
I have a gunsmith in Georgia who can likely do both at a reasonable cost, if you want to proceed.

Dan I would like that info. Jimmy, I am pretty sure I know all the procedures for laying rib, but I have never had the guts to try it??. Maybe a good time to learn!

Chuck is a great guy,and fellow.410 enthusiast. I really miss him on here. At one time he was very active here.
May God bless America and those who defend her.
