A favorite from the late 1800’s of the grouse woods around the New England town where I once lived.

I can’t remember, Ed, and I’m traveling just now.
I will check when I get home and post the details.

One I own. It's interesting as one feather is painted and the second is real.

With a fine gun on his arm, a man becomes a sporting gentleman, both on the field and off.

It was done in 1883 by Edwin Anson (yes, the son of THAT Anson).

Bless his heart, the artist painted 22" barrels on the Model 21.

My three favorite painting scenes are hanging in my home. They are these:

"Nervous Cans" by Les Kouba

"Shooting The High Field" by Robert Abbett

And "Jackson and Lane", by Bucky Bowles (a Georgia artist), a depiction of my two grandsons in their formative dove shooting years

I have hunted woodcock with a gentleman from South Carolina who is a wood carver of birds, mostly game birds. I was introduced to Floyd by our friend here, Gil. His abilities are so far above most carvers that I can honestly say I've never seen his equal. Here's a few examples of his work. Everything you see in the pictures was carved by him from wood, even the shell box and hulls. I think most would agree this is true sporting art.
