[quote=BrentD, Prof]…..Biologists do not make policy…. No they don't. They do influence policy as those who make policy rely on their opinions and theories. I stress opinions and theories until there is a proven and repeatable outcome or conclusion, proof. One hopes for policy based in knowledge and thoughtful consideration. As to the anti hunting/shooting crusader. Basing their beliefs in ignorance, emotion and fear. Often willful ignorance. Or possibly the idea that they just know better than you how you should live your life! Chief The anti-science crusaders are basing their beliefs in ignorance, emotion, and fear, also. Often even more willfully. One only has to look at the ferocity of our local forum science deniers. And that is the problem Neither group does any favors for their "cause", even if they are right. Sadly, too many folks here, let them slide. [quote=BrentD, Prof]…..Biologists do not make policy…. No they don't. Sadly, too many folks here, let them slide. One large difference Brent. I'm not aware of any organized movement to re introduce lead into waterfowl hunting. A lot of complaining and dissatisfaction at a personal level. As opposed to an obvious and consistent push to remove all use of lead across the board. Some of this may be well intentioned feel good activity. Some of this is a back door method to restrict and or eliminate hunting and recreational shooting. The science indicates that there need not be a complete restriction on the use of lead as it pertains to shooting. Clays especially so as the lead can be gathered up periodically and recycled, how green! Upland bird hunting in areas that would not significantly impact waterfowl should not be restricted. As you alluded to previously. Losses due to lead ingestion in scavenging birds are minimal and don't affect their overall success. That would be a reasonable and obvious conclusion as those species are at a high level of population. Chief

Well Jimmy I must ask. What does that have to do with a lead ban in MN?
