I am considering purchasing a set of 16 ga. barrels from Galazan's for my Parker Repro. Does anyone have any experience with these barrels? Is the quality good, and, more importantly, does the existing 20 gauge forend fit this set, or is a second one needed?
Thanks as always for your help
Best
Rick

They were made by Kreighoff so the quality should be OK. I would bet that the forend needs fit up but it should be do able.

It's my understanding the barrels that Tony has now are made by Merkel. They will need to be fitted to the gun. I bought a set and thought I could fit them myself. I ended up sending the gun and the barrels back to Tony for fitting. I was not real happy with the fitting job. They where very tight and there was a gap at the dolls head extension. However they did shoot spot on. And yes the forearm will be fitted also. If you get real lucky, they may fit with no fitting. You take your chances.

I have a good friend that bought a set from Tony and I helped him fit them up.

Here's my take on it:

The barrels are very high quality and from what I've been told are made in Germany, but they are different than the original 16ga repro. barrels made by Kreighoff.

The forearm will fit but you need to be carefull not to alter it due to the fact that it still needs to fit your 20ga barrels.

After going thru this fitting process, if it were me "I'd pony-up the money and have Galazans do the fitting"!!

I think that if you really want a nice 16/20 combo this is a good way to go. I have an original repro. 16/20 combo that is one of my favorite guns. The 16ga barrels on the O-frame makes for a great field combination. I'm gald I bought my gun years ago simply for the fact that, they made so few of them that when you find them now they are expensive.

Buying the barrels and having them fit is a fairly reasonable why to get into a combo repro. Especially if you already own the 20ga.

Here's a word of caution: These barrels will fit and function just fine, but dont expect them to fit absoulutely perfect!

Good take, dogon. There's a 3 barrel set (2 x 20ga plus a 16) at the Scheels store in Coralville, IA. Pretty reasonable price for one of those, I think, at $8,000. But I took a close look and found the same thing: the 16's fit, gun functions (at least with snap caps), but it's not perfect.
