My tale of woe is a long one, the beginnings of which you may already be familiar...
As a Christmas present to myself I bought a new Grade II Ugartechea from LCS. I was extremely happy with it except for one little problem... the safety was resetting after I fired one barrel. I sent it back to LCS for repair, under warranty, and when it returned the problem was fixed but the safety was stiff as the dickens, and gritty feeling to boot. So, back it went for a second round, this time coming back no better. The third time it was to be returned permanently and a new gun ordered. But LCS said they tried again and this time it came back fixed right. So, I was happy for several months, except there was one new problem. Now, the top tang screw kept coming loose after every few shots. All it needed was a little lcoktite, but LCS's policy is that if you take the gun apart yourself the warranty is voided. So, LCS very graciously agreed to put a little locktite on it (and paid shipping both ways - they really are nice guys). They sent it back in time for the Endless Mountains shoot this past weekend and the screw stayed tight, but now the safety is restting after the first barrel is fired again! It doesn't happen every time, but enough to be really annoying. I am confident it is not my thumb (if I leave my thumb on the safety it does not happen), and it seems to happen more often when the gun is at a higher angle.
So now I don't know what to do. I have just about lost all faith in the LCS gunsmith. I can surely send it back to him free of charge, but who knows what further problems I may encounter thereafter. My gut is telling me to pay a reputable gunsmith to fix it right so I can just get off this roller coaster. What say you?
Also, can anyone recommend a good gunsmith for this problem? I am leaning towards Griffin & Howe because they are nearby and I suspect they will do a good job, but I do not have any experience with them.
Thanks!
