I know from my previous question about pressures that things change in each "batch". I wonder though, if anyone has any pressure info on the Kent TM loads in 2 3/4" 12g with 1 1/4oz of #5's.

I have read and heard that several guys use this in their vintage doubles for waterfowl. Since Waterfowl hunting is perhaps my favorite thing to hunt, I want to start using my trusty field Grade in this aspect. Has anyone pressure tested these loads? Sorry for the repeat question on pressures.

Jagermeister:

Is that a tongue-in-cheek response?

If not,my apologies , and some questions.

Is that the Maximum Average? For the sample? For the lot? How large is the sample? which lot of shells was tested?

Regards

GKT

With that question, I too would like to know if the answer was just a "joke" or if for real? I assumed (one should never do that) that it was legit with the understanding things can and do change with pressures. However, if this was a number pulled out of the air, please advise.

Kent TM pressure 2 1/2-inch 1 1/16 oz fibre cup Nos. 5 and 6 is 7,500psi.

Their one-ounce load same length in Nos. 6 and 7 is 6,500 psi.

I don't know what the figures are, or where the quoted ones came from. But I do know that Kent is one of the few manufacturers that will answer that question with a direct answer if you CALL them. They do not publish their pressures, but seem to understand our need-to-know, and have always been very cooperative. I believe that the big three really don't know what pressures their loads generate beyond being in a certain range between enough pressure to operate an autoloader, and SAAMI max. I think Kent must load to a tighter range of pressure, because they have always given me a specific answer and not a long explanation about how it is difficult to say...

Upon taking your advice, I decided to go ahead and call them. You are right in that they were very kind and in just a few moments, they gave me the pressure info I needed.

Here is the info on the Kent TM Pheasant and Game loads, C122UGNT36-5 *12 2 3/4" MAX 1330 1 1/4 oz. 5's produce 9100 psi.

The info on the Kent TM load for waterfowl, C122NT36-3,5 12 2 3/4" MAX 1400 1 1/4 oz. 5's produce 9900 psi.

In this info where you see MAX that is Dram, followed by velocity.

Regarding helpful, they were very well represented at the Vintagers' Cup. I quizzed them on quality control(25 collected every hour for testing) and why the misfires after long exposure to moisture(they said all wick or leak around the primers).

Kind Regards,

I don't buy their pressure data, they don't use an actual pressure gun, just calcuate it. I know that independent ballistican's have pressure tested those loads way above what they report.
