With the addition of the various options, the new RBL 28 is approaching the current cost of a Parker Repro 28. Which would you prefer??

This is going to be an interesting thread.
If I didn't already own a 28 ga Repro (2-barrel set) I would think pretty hard about ordering onw with a 14-3/4" straight grip, double-triggers and 30" barrels. However, the look and feel of the RBL leaves me a little cool to the gun.
I think it is pretty hard to beat the 28 ga Repro for the money.

The Repro is still more money, generally used and it's difficult to find one with exactly the right configuration. Plus it's made in Japan which I consider a negative.

I think I'd go with the RBL because it's American, available, pretty much in the configuration you want and you have CSMC standing behind it.
I have both a Parker Repro and a RBL in 20 gauge and to tell the truth, after a year of shooting and hunting with the RBL,I still haven't decided which I prefer.
I'm thankful they did not decide to offer the RBL in 16 gauge, tho.
That I'd have to have.

It's interesting that although CSM has the rights to use the Fox name and build the gun, they didn't elect to build a field grade or production grade, if you will, Fox. Regardless of any percieved or real technical superiority in the RBL design, personally, I think a Fox design would have been much better recieved than the RBL, which got catcalls right off for being a SKB clone. They could have called it "the Sterlingworth".

I own a 2 bbl Parker Repro in 28 and have hunted it hard! It is my favorite shotgun. I have not owned an RBL, but have held one at CSM's HQ. I prefer the Parker for several reasons and do not believe it is in anyway inferior because it was made in Japan on tools similar to what the RBL is now manufactured on.
I wish CSM had produced a "Sterlingworth" version. When asked, Tony Galazan told me it was too complex and expensive to manufacture, his comment "far more costly than the model 21". I can't evaluate his comment from a technical viewpoint, but I wonder why he would dilute his premium SXS product. He is a very astute businessman from a technical and product viewpoint.

I vote for the Parker Reproduction. If trends continue, the Parker Repro will be worth more than you paid for it in the near future. If you go to sell a used RBL, I believe you are going to lose money. It is just a used gun. There is no RBL collectors club around. Not to mention you can pay cash for an actual gun to enjoy today instead of an uncertain future ship date.

IMHO I see no "collector" value in a basic DHE Parker repro. If I didn't buy one when Guns Unlimited and Jacquas were closing them out for $1995, I sure won't buy one used now. I did place my order for an RBL-28 this morning though.
