QD: Phail & Jim were here yesterday & will be back tomorrow. Raimey is on his way. Several more late additions arrived today including a beautiful hand-detachable sidelock Gebruder Merkel superposed, a very nice Parker VH, a Thomas Woodward hammergun, a Westley Richards 10 bore, a William Cashmore hammergun, and a few others. You won't regret coming.

Best Regards, George

Just returned from this evening's "Cocktails & Conversations" with Dig. It is amazing how much that young fellow knows. He went on for a full hour tracing the history of the English double gun & then after a short break took questions from the crowd of about 150. Everyone there seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves with a lot of questions beforehand about the guns being offered. The auction is due to get underway about 10 AM tomorrow. Had a delicious dinner afterward with Raimey Ellenburg along with my daughter & grandaughter.

Best regards, George

Hey Bill: It was great being with you and Jim this weekend. I hope you enjoyed the auction as much as I. I don't believe that everything sold but most did. How about that elephant painting for $95,000? Check out Holt's site http://www.holtandcompany.uk.com & click on the short video of someone who looks a lot like you & Jim lighting off a 2 bore. looks like fun! I hope to see you in Greenville soon.

Best Regards, George

HI CHIEF: I hope you and all the 19 others who requested a printed catalogue for the Charlton Hall Auction recieved them O.K. I didn't meet you at the sale if you were there. If you were there I hope you enjoyed it as much as I. I thought it came off beautifully and as far as I could tell most everything sold. Everyone seemed to have a great time & I saw folks that I hadn't seen in years. I am looking forward to helping them start preparing for next year. IF ANY READING THIS DID ATTEND THE SALE PLEASE POST YOUR THOUGHTS FOR CHARLTON HALL & DIG'S BNEFIT.

Best Regards, George

My catalog did finally arrive, Friday afternoon before the morning start at 10:00 Saturday. I appreciate the catalog, but it came so late as to be of little use. I was unable to attend at any rate. Will there be available on-line a complete listing of the prices realized? I would love to compare that listing with the catalog estimates. Hopefully you were able to iron out a few kinks, and the next ones will be even better. With some better planning on my part, I will likely make it up for one.

ChiefShotguns:

I think that I have almost all the prices but maybe one. Email me which interest you & I'll send you the bid, which is of course less the 15% buyers portion & 8%(whatever it is) S.C. sales tax. Also, this applies to any and all interested.

Kind Regards,

Raimey

Raimey: Prices Realised are now on Charlton Hall's web site. You'll have to click on each individual item to see what it brought. A fair number didn't meet their reserves but we kind of expected that. I really enjoyed the time we spent together. Let's do it again. I'll get your double rifle over to Jim Kelly this week & call you with his estimate.

Best......George

Doing a fast pass through the sale results, doesnt appear as if much sold, at least in the American doubles...I didnt get to attend, unable to get to the paved road much less Denver to catch plane. Every gun I looked up was passed.

Yeah I noticed that also. I checked mostly the British doubles and I'd guess less than 25% sold. Of the 25% or so that sold, most went from 50 - 75% of low estimate. I thought that the estimates were high. I guess the next one will have a lot more guns.
