A Purdey for 5 grand is going to be short...

Looks like the Forearm Iron is miss-matched to the gun with a stick of Pine stuck on it. The butt stock has something going on...just not sure what ?

I would think the action and barrel are worth 5 grand if they are in decent shape.

Did you notice that that gun has a prominent "5" on tne top rib? Pairs are neat, and I have seen a few sets of three, but how many loaders would you need for that?

If I could put my 'Three Pennyworth" on this table, I think this No5 of a(What the dickens do you call 5 matching guns????) has been standing behind a kitchen door on some Yokels farm down in Missouri, looks old enough to have "Ridden with the James Gang" If...IF someone buys this London Masterpiece....I have a "Purdey Bird-Feeder" in my back garden, and its for sale with a letter from Purdeys.....Will post photo later...HomelessjOe has pointed out just the "Tip" of the Iceburg. If Purdeys charge $7k to Re-Stock a Standard Forend, Add on what the cost of a Forend Iron,Tube, Rod, Spring,Bolt,Tip & screw,Center-Strap Screw, 2 Knuckel Pins,Then the Ejector Mechanisim.....Oh Boy.....After fitting that lot to the existing Action & Barrels, Regulating the Ejectors. Then the "Artissts" go to work...engraving the Small Scroll to the Forend Knuckel, Forend Tip & Screw..Blueing and Colour Case-Hardening ness parts...$OHHHhhhhhhhhThen are we going to Re-Stock the "Back-Bit"??Just about Double that cost for the Forend.. But of course If you dont want to do-it The Purdey Way.....We could Knock it off over here, for the proverbial "C note, 'Bag of Dunkin's Best.& a Six-Pack of "Bud"!!!Could end up a nice gun!!!!cc
