Just got back from Wallymart... AAA shells are now $7.57, STS's close behind! They have been at $5.97 awhile, but now this!. Even the cheap Winchester in the 4 pack are almost $24, the Federal 4 pack is $21!
I thought the article in Shotgun Sports magazine said the commodity guy from some wall street firm said lead was going down!

I hate to buy foreign, but those Charles Daly shells from Turkey or wherever at $4.50 (Big 5) are looking better all the time.

Add to it our no-lead Condor Range... why am I here in CA!
Have pity on us.

Same price in Mpls, and they are figuring out how to keep us from shooting lead in the near future as we speak.

No condors here.

The ol'boys can't shoot steel, they can't find bismuth and can't afford lead.

With respect, gentlemen, the price has gone up and up but not beyond what we can afford. I'm a freelancer near the end of my time, an old-age pensioner, and I can't imagine a more reasonable expense for my pleasure than for shot and shells---and prices are much higher here than there. Those paying the price I read here for doubles are in a very comfortable slot compared to my company of gunners. Those who shoot hundreds or thousands of rounds a month are in a different category from the majority of gunners. There should be fewer tears, more blessings.

Are there any "Hard" facts that Condors are eating lead to make their numbers dwindle? Or are they dwindleing at all? Sounds like shooters are an easy target to point at by the politicos.

AA and STS are the smae price in TX. 7.57 a box for 12's or 20's

Prices in the local Cabela's had gone up $2.00 a box for AA and STS, and I know it went up on the other brands but don't know the exact price. Win. AA and STS are now $8.99 bx. Today at Wally World AA were 7.57, some of the Remington Game Loads were stil $4.84. Guarantee it won't be for long. That was for 12's & 20's.

A month ago it appeared that lead prices were in a sustained decline. However, in the past couple days prices have skyrocketed. Dunno why since lead supplies have increased substantially. Here's the link to current price/supply data: http://www.kitcometals.com/charts/lead_historical_large.html

The price of lead is the price of lead...not some plot to ruin our hobby.

There is a huge delay in price adjustments when you compare lead futures prices and the cost of a box of shells on the shelves at Wally World or the price of a bag of shot. That is why you can still find $4.60 boxes of shells for sale. The wholesale purchase contracts, raw materials inventory and finshed goods inventories need to flush out. Shell prices will be as slow to fall as lead prices decline as they were to rise as lead prices went up.
