Thank you very much, OWD. Nothing for pictures yet. Just something I'm considering.

What's it say on the top rib? There should be an address there and maybe a grade name.

This one was one of the lower grades sold in America at that time:

This was the top of the line Scott:

http://www.champlinarms.com/Default.aspx...0&GunID=991

On yours, what does the bottom of the action look like?

Are the castle proofmark a sign of premier quality? I have castle proofmarks on mine. My 26th edition blue book doesn,t list the castle proofmark or any pricing for my gun or any other w&c scott and sons guns. Any help? Thanks.

The castle proofmarks are a Scott insignia - like the polo player on a Ralph Lauren shirt. They do not indicate a grade.

Premier-grade guns are marked The Premier Quality - on the rib and I think on the action flats.

Top-grade hammerguns made before The Premier Quality name was introduced do not have this name on them. I just came across one in pretty minty condition. It's a pre-Premier Premier.
