I have an Ithaca Flues, that was made and shipped in September 1913 (according to the kind Mr. Snyder). It is a plain jane, in good condition with twin ivory beads and ejectors. What makes it truely unique is that I also have the original box, with packing materials and Railroad Shipping labels. I have NO idea how to put a value on this thing for my insurance company. I certaily would appreciate any and all input.
Thank you all in advance,
Steve

The grade is important, plain jane could be Field, 1 or 1 1/2, Also what gauge? Unless it was unfired in the box, the box won't mean nearly as much. MDC

I disagree with my friend MD, I think the original box of a 1913 gun adds at least $200. It would for me anyhow. Mel, Gunter is making progress on the restoration project with the barrels you kindly sent. I will be posting a photo when I get the gun back. Best, Walt

I guess that the box itself is one matter, one (now) has told me it is worthless, some reckon it is worth much more. The ejectors are another question. How much do ejectors add? Would they add the same percentage as they did when new?

I don't think he called it worthless, just "not nearly as much". I'm no expert but the box should have some value.

I recently spoke with a gentelmen whom specializes in finding old guns in their original boxes. His comment to me about such things is that if the gun is in fine shape and the box is too and it matches, it can easily add 1k to the guns value. I am in the school of thought that the orginal box would add a good deal to the value of the gun. (Perhaps it's because I own such a gun too)

I was saying, the box would add a much greater percentage if th gun was new and unfired.. I would say Walt is in the ball park.I would say the gun is in the $1000 to $1200 bracket, plus walts $200..MDC

Original boxes plus "papers" do much to sell guns contained in them. Hey, how many ole' beat up clunkers come with original paperwork? Another charmer is hardened oil or grease in action components. I just examined Auto-5 LtWt 12br with luvly jellow hue on the bolt and internal parts. "Closet Queen" all the way, oh baby!
