Saw this gun today which looked like a really nice double. The owner and seller knew nothing about it and did not even know what price to put on it. Does anyone know this maker. The name is on the barrels. Also on the barrels are Acier on the left barrel in a gold color and Cockerill on the right barrel also in a gold color. It has a horn trigger guard and butt plate. The engraving has roses in a cicle on both sideplates and bottom. Very nicely done. I do not have pictures. Some of the stamping on the flats are a stick man over PV, a star over a M over a line on a diamond shape. Something like k or r g442, 16/70, a crown over ELG inside a circle and chokes 170 and 171. SN17xx. Any help appreciated.
Thanks Tom

Typical Belgian. Baston LePage was an engineer and gun designer. His family had shops in France and Belgium. A growing list of French gunmaker is here, http://www.gournetusa.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=139&whichpage=2 , on Darnation's site. I think toward the bottom of the list is info from revdrewdoc on littlegun: http://www.littlegun.be/arme%20francaise/a%20accueil%20arme%20francaise%20gb.htm .

LePage Freres of Paris was one of Lefaucheux's retail agents and LePage Moutier et Janie a Paris was a retailer for Chaemot & Delvigne.

Kind Regards,

Raimey
