I am looking for some information that perhaps some Belgian experts might provide.

A recent acquisition bears the name of Ad. Jansen Bruxelles, which might possibly be Adolf Jansen? Does anyone have any information about this maker/retailer? If so, what is the general reputation of this person from the vantage point of the quality of his offerings.

Secondly, while my resource material helped me with most of the proof-marks, there is a mark prominently displayed on the barrel flats consisting of the letters ML topped by a crown. Does anyone have insight into what this mark might be?

I have owned one Ad Jansen , a gun made in the 1950s. It was a boxlock, but fit and finish were of very high quality. I have seen other guns by him and all seemed to be high quality. One double rifle was priced near $10,000. Usually these guns are marked with a translated phrase of Gunmaker to the King or similar.

Adolf was top of the line in his day. He also held at least 5 patents, mainly for pistols and carbines.
