I've haven't seen any comments re: the new Robertson shotgun and I'm chimming in. I spirited away the new Robertson side-plated box lock SXS for Rocketman to spin during the recent Southern SXS. I told Tom Bryant of Cabella's that I may not wish to return the gun - his comments were; "thats OK, I know where you live".
My first impressions of the gun are very favorable. The fit and finish is excellent. Raising the stock to the action with light hand pressure on the toe of the butt stock - the gun locks up with a quality sounding click. Boss has provided fine engraving, metal to wood fit, barrel striking, and overall fine finishing. I understand that this 6 1/2lb, 28 inch barrel, with auto ejectors will only be provided with a Boss designed single inertia trigger. I only wish that I had the $17,000 required to purchase this new gun.
I believe that Rocketman is now out of the county; however, he intends to provide the details re: his spin testing.

I find consolation in not buying one (not that I have the $17K either!) by telling myself that 6 1/2# is the proper weight for a 12ga game gun, not a 20.

By out of the country, George means way up north!!
The Robertson is as follows: 30" barrels, 14 5/8" LOP, 6# 8 oz, 5" balance to trigger, unmounted swing = 1.61, mounted swing of 7.01, and half weight radius of 10.72. The weight and balance are right on average for a Brit pattern game gun. The unmounted swing is a bit slow and the mounted is a bit faster than average. If you want game gun handling, well here it is.
We got 24 guns over two days at the Southern. Not a bad haul. I'll put some of the most interesting ones up as soon as I get the data worked.

It'd be interesting to compare it to Brit 20's, or even 16's.

Larry, you should be able to get your comparison as I had Rocketman swing 5 guns for me. They included a 2" 12b Holland,5# 8.5oz, Brit 20 b A&D 5#4oz, 2 16 bores at 5#150z and a 12b Wm Evans at @ 6# 4oz all of which fell within an MOI range of 1.1 - 1.55 as I recall. I look forward to the complete results when available. Hugh Lomas

Each of the following guns has a listing of: Weight, Balance, MOI@CG, MOI@Butt, Gage, Bbl ", LOP, HWR
Roertson BLE sideplated #12026 new from Cabala's 6.5, 5, 1.61, 7.01, 20, 30, 14 5/8, 10.72
H&H Dominion SLE 5.53, 3 7/8, 1.16, 4.97, 12-2", 26, 14, 9.86
Monk BLNE 5.25, 4 3/4, 1.13, 5.22, 20, 28, 14 1/4, 9.99
Henry BLNE 5.91, 4 1/2, 1.25, 5.91, 16, 28, 14 5/8, 9.90
Lancaster BLNE 5.97, 4 5/8, 1.43, 6.14, 16, 28, 14 1/2, 10.54
Evans BLNE 6.25, 5 1/4, 1.47, 6.73, 12, 30, 14 1/2, 10.44
Greener TLHG 7.63, 5, 1.79, 7.73, 12, 29, 14, 10.43
Ithaca NID 4E BLE 9.5, 7 1/8, 2.61, 11.75, 10, 32, 14, 11.29
The Greener hammer gun and the NID were thrown in to show what "a bit more manly" guns were like. Weight is in pounds and decimals (not ounces), balance is inches in front of the (front) trigger, MOI@CG is the unmounted swing effort, MOI@Butt is the mounted swing effort, gage is the usual numbers, barrel length is in inches, LOP is length of pull and is in inches, and HWR, half weight radius, is a measure of the gun's compactness (smaller numbers are more compact).
Hugh L. could do a good job of sensing the swing and placing the guns in rank order.
Questions?
