I recently purchased a gun which was made by A.M. Arms Co.-Boston however can find no record of the Co. in any of my books. Does anyone know if A.M.Arms is the same as American Arms of Boston???

What is the configuration of the gun (boxlock sidelock)) Proofs?

Will do the best I can, don't bother to ask for photo's as I don't know how. It is a boxlock but I can find no proofs. Gun is hammerless and opens with a centered lever. Matching seriel numbers ( very low 941 ). On the right side plat it has A.M.Arms Co. Boston and under that it has two patent dates March 21, 1882 and May 29, 1883. On the l;eft side plate I am only able to make out M1 Hammer Fs9" and then ( TRA DE Mark 1 ). The unique thing about it ( and the reason I bought it ) when you open and shut the breech it does not cock the gun. It has a short lever on the left side plate that you thumb push down to cock the gun. Neat, huh!! Has a checkered pistol grip stock and checkered forepiece. Any ideas??

Now that I cleaned it up a little more and got out my glass the left side plate says semi Hammer Trade Mark. Still no proofs.

That gun was made by American Arms of Boston. Am Arms made sidelocks boxlocks and a single barrel sidecocker. An interesting company with much history. Have been looking for a 10ga boxlock for years.
