I have used these folks, you have to have your Back wire money to Zurich , was very painless , had the wood in 10 days and the wood turned out to be top notch, I was very satisfied.

Mayhaps it was Luxus. I have been treated well by them. Clay is the gentleman I have dealt with.

Mark DeHaan at dehaan shotguns stocks turkish blanks here in the US, that he buys on his trips to Turkey. I bet if you contacted him, he could point you to a Turkish supplier...

Don't know of any suppliers direct from Turkey, but I understand your attempt to buy direct from the source. However, I recently read that many Turkish suppliers are using a process that goes beyond kiln drying to accelerate the drying process and get the blanks to market quicker. The caution was that this process left the blanks more unstable and actually leached out natural oils in addition to removing water. Wish I could remember where I read this and maybe someone else could shed more light before you end up with very expensive kindling.

I've had good luck with Steve Sidki, who is based in UK but has a stock of stocks-to-be in the US as well as UK. Clients include H&H, Purdeys, AA Brown, L Bosis - pretty blue chip crowd. A bit expensive but his wood is properly seasoned and he will replace if it is defective. Go to his "Guns Gallery" for examples on guns:

Hello Geno;
Might try E mailing Bill Dowtin - "Old World Walnut" - At the least, check out his website. Fine wood, and some of it from right in your own back yard. Heck of a nice guy to talk to also.
Best;
Bill
