Jason - thanks for the warning. I'd be interested in learning the dealer's name.

I, also, have been burned by gross misrepresentions of guns in internet sales. Unfortunately, not refunding shipping and FFL fees when a gun is grossly misrepresented appears to be the standard operating procedure for some sellers. I suggest we all work together to protect ourselves against this predatory practice by compiling a list of such sellers, who we can then steer clear of.

Perhaps we all follow the precedure set out by Jason, here, where we post our experience of a bad faith seller, and privately email the seller's name to anyone who requests it. Those who choose to participate then keep their own list and avoid listed sellers as they see fit.

The market for quality used doubles is small enough that the list should become complete relatively quickly. This has the added benefit of tending to drive business to the deserving, honest sellers.

I am going to play "devil's advocate" here. Those who have complained about dealing with bad gun sellers please tell us where you live. It would be very simple to add a state to your profile. Then posters could give you some information about where you can actually look at the guns you are buying on the internet. These dealers, good and bad, go to shows and shoots and display their wares. I hardly ever buy from a major dealer sight unseen if I can meet the dealer at a show or shoot. Shipping and insurance is expensive and should be avoided whenever possible.

Its to bad we can't keep a going list here and there is a somewhat understandable relutance to "name names" but when we share experiences of bad deals, both with dealers and other sellers is does help us all as collecters in keeping both our hobby and investment more enjoyable.

So........none of you guys are going to post the guy's name for the rest of us? What's THAT all about? Oh well, just another horror story about buying guns over the internet without seeing them in person. When will you people ever learn?

Just look at that wood slab of a forend. Is there any doubt this piece was designed for sport shooting and would have seen some harder use. Lets face it, regular use with std. US ammo and mid to lower grade LC Smith shotgun virtually guarantees cracks behind them plates. Lets look at the upside. I am sure this dealer doesn't crew everyone he does business with. I now one guy he will never tighten screws to, numero uno or ME.
