Hello, all, nice site. I am looking for information on a double barrel pistol that my uncle brought back from Germany. Has Gold inlay on top of gun with Christoph Funk in Suhl between barrels. I have pics, not sure where or how to post them. Wood grip with silver butt plate, silver studs in grip, all metal including barrels are fine ingraved. I have checked a lot of the websites for Funk in Suhl, still can't find anything on this weapon. Thank you for any help.

Ron: Welcome and here's a site with a little info on Funk which you may have found: http://www.bryndumlund.dk/index.php?id=3 . I think most of this info and a little more may be in a GGCA( http://www.germanguns.com ) publication, but let me look. Mr. Apel, or some of the folk at GGCA might give some leads. Do you think it dates to the mid to late 1800s? Kind Regards, Raimey rse

It is hard for me to tell, the hammers are not as ornate as some I have seen on long guns. There is a lot of detail on the screw heads also. Is there a way to post pics?

There's certainly a way and the directions are on this site somewhere, but I can be of little assistance. Proofmarks, or the absence of proofmarks, may be the key to getting a date range. Have you taken a gander on the underside of the barrels? Is it percussion or central fire?
Kind Regards,

Fine effort. Looks to have the early octogonal rifling and pattern welded tubes, hopefully of Germanic origin. The safety, or latch/hammer safety lock, was also used on longarms. Yours is very, very similar to a Johann Paul Sauer and Sohn(steel tubes and # 11652) as found on page 14 of Mr. Jim Cate's latest Sauer book. It just may date to around 1880. Just pure conjecture, but your serial seems to fit in the Sauer range. I could have been purchased in the white from Sauer and finished by Funk. There just weren't that many pistol examples.
Kind Regards,
Raimey rse

Thank you, There is an 1/8" square keyway in between the hammers, looks like it takes a clock key. I am not sure what this is, but the hammers will not cock. Any ideas?

I've only seen pics of the safety and don't know its true function but the main springs, which can be fabed today, may be broken or removed. Is there any resistance to pulling the hammers back? I'd say have the locks removed and have a gander.
Kind Regards,
