Terry, I notice your gun has the "adjustable" hinge or bite, could you post a photo or two illustrating the workings.

I've seen the articles in DGJ, but the photos never make it clear how/what moves when screw is rotated.

Thanks

Mark

In the book "The history of W&C.Scott," authors, John A.Crawford & Patrick G.Whatley [retired managing director of Scott's] state;"The Imperial Premier"bar action side lock was produced from 1897-1932.It sold for $1200 in 1930.It was considered by some experts as possibley the finest shotgun model ever made.
I had the privelege of spending several days in the Scott factory during the 1970,s at that time they were still making best guns for the London Trade,as well as a complete range of their own boxlock and sidelock guns.

From time to time we have touched on the subject of the different designs found on Scott guns. Any consensus on how many different ones and what they might represent?

This one on my “Premier”.

Mark, I haven't had the adjustable lump apart but my understanding is that as the eight faceted large set screw is screwed in it bears on an angled 45 degree wedge that pushs down on a similarly angled piece that shows on the photo and moves forward to take up any slack on the hinge pin.The small set screw obviously locks it in place.
Homeless, I believe the forend fastener is a Scott Patent and as you can see there is a small third bite on the dolls head, not sure if it has a name? Anyway, I love my Scotts, they are all serious shooters meant/built to be used and enjoyed, which I do as often as possible.

Thank you Terry.

That is very clear, it was that wearable, moveable insert in the hook/lump I was unable to fathom.

It really is amazing what these craftsmen did with hand tools!
