Its been a rainy day here so I have been playing with the limited surviving shipping invoices. We have often noted guns with configurations different than its serial number would suggest. Here is one gun that may help explain that observation. Gun 454049, a 12 ga. 32 inch barreled 5E with all the options was shipped on 7/25/30 to Whitney Spgt. Co. located in Co. The very same gun was later shipped to Lou Eppinger, Inc. on 10/17/42, 12 years later. It was a gun returned to stock from the first dealer(they called them reshipped guns). 1930 was the short beaver tail and cocking indicators era, 1942 the long beaver tail and no indicators. I would love to know its current configuration. Did Ithaca update the fore end, fill up the cocking holes, re-make its frame? Some or none of the above?
Anyone out there own this gun?
