I'm considering putting on a live bird shoot the week of the Southern Side by Side. Perhaps a pigeon tower shoot, perhaps a ring as well. Would any of you shoot in such an event?

The location is about 45 minutes from Deep River and is probably the nicest game preserve in North Carolina with a large, really nice lodge and facilities.

Just curious...

You damn straight I would. Shoot, I'd darn near run through a forest fire in kerosene Speedoes to shoot live (but NFL) pigeons. Love Tower shoots- and a ring with 5 release traps or columbaire-with some friendly side bets. Deep River- same Deep River that was home to Bluegrass guitar pickin' legends Doc and his son the late Merle Watson??

I know I would like to try a tower shoot. One guy here posted a tower pigeon shoot a few months ago he attended and commented on how much fun it was.
Are you talking about doing this next April? Since I live close I would like to get in on it.

I think if you'd put the word out amongst the Parker faithful you'd find several willing parties, particularly if it was a ring type shoot and not tower.

If you'd PM me some details I'd be happy to help.

I'm a member at the preserve (Beaver Pond, beaverpondnc.com) Located in Snow Camp NC. We've just put in some serious improvements that haven't made it to the website yet.

We have 300 acres, a major tower, very nice 5 stand, huge meeting room, 3 private bedrooms and a bunk room, etc.

We visualize a pigeon shoot with the tower sometime before or after the Southern. We don't currently have the ring but we have plenty of room for it and would consider putting it in provided the shooters would come.

Those of you who live close to Snow Camp need to look at our website. We're also planning to raise 25,000 with a dove shoot on Labor Day. Gather #300 in pledges for Childrens Promise and shoot free or pay $150

If We Build It, Will You Come?

RWTF,

That was Deep Gap, NC, not Deep River.

Hey, I live down in Saxaphaw, not far from Snow Camp. Would love to come out and see the place. Yes I am a Helice and pigeon shooter too.
Maybe you should consider putting in a Helice field. There were several memebrs at Deep River who shot Helice. Now the equipment is broke and they are not looking to fix it. We had a monthly shoot at Deep River, a 20 bird race. Also we would have about four 30 bird races a year.
I know of some investors who may be willing to help out.

I'd love to see a little friendly competition with maybe the Parker, LC, and Fox marques. I'm a Fox guy married to a Parker girl.

The Helice sounds fun, I noticed it wasn't available last year, What does the equipment need?

There are a lot of pigeon shooters amongst the Parker crowd, I don't know of a single one in the Smith contingent though.

Do any of the Fox folks shoot pigeons other than yourself?

Well, I am not a member of the "Smith contingent" but I am a box bird shooter and I use a 32" Specialty Grade. Had been looking for an excuse to go to the Southern. A shoot like this might do it. Hope you can keep PETA out of the information loop.
