If you throw some box birds, you can count on about 5 of us from the Shenandoah Valley to join you if invited!! Since Dogwood shut down, we are having to go to SC or to PA to feed our addiction!!

There would be more chance that I would attend if it were not part of the "Southern Side by Side" schedule. Four days away from home is enough. By Sunday noon, I'm ready to head for home. I would like Bill to have some of his female employees throw Columbaire birds at the Southern in place of the ZZ field. To be honest, there are more box birds within 50 miles of my house than I can afford to shoot.

Yup- Deep Gap. Old Doc did a great job with Merle on Deep River Blues, also Jimmie Rodgers' Blue Yodel No. 33- California Blues. Believe Merle used a Sears & Roebuck 13/16" deep well socket for his slide on that last piece. I have about 4 vintage tapes of Doc and Merle in concert- including the one they did at Carnegie Hall in NYC-

Interesting gun Fox. It is a Specialty grade two barrel set - 32's full and full and 28's mod and mod. It has factory splinter on both barrels and a straight stock. Built without a safety, I assume it is a purpose built pigeon gun with the second set as general purpose or perhaps columbaire. With the 32"s it shoots like a rifle and hits like a freight train. It also has the much abused Hunter One trigger which seems to work as originally advertized every time I slap it.
I hate helice. Too much like engaging flying saucers or extras in Independence Day. Box birds are the thing, and columbaire is the epitome of that thing.

Just have the event Sunday morning. The actual shooting event at Deep River is over by then isn't it? That would really make for a great weekend. I didn't go last year, have been several times and was bored with it. But if there's a live pigeon match in the offing I'll be there this spring without a doubt.

P.S. to Joe Taylor: I'm with you on the helice, I just can't warm up to it.

Off topic some. but if memory serves me correctly there was a major Civil War battle fought there. My great grandfather was wounded and captured there. Recovered and serve in the Army til 1892.
