Nope. Mistake on my part. One might say that the 32 was brought out as competition for the Winchester Model 21 and perhaps the Superposed. Not vice/versa. Sorry for any confusion or raised hackles.

One thing is for certain, it was a solid, well made shotgun and very under appreciated.

If given choice between Browning Superposed, Winchester 21 and Remington 32 I would go with Remi w/o hesitation. It's simply superior more trouble-free design.

I shoot them all and there is nothing bad about any of them in basic design. Right now I'm having a bit of a trigger problem with one of my 32s, but I expect to get that sorted out shortly. I also shoot 32 Krieghoffs and I underatand that a Krieghoff trigger can actually be adapted to a Remington. By the way, Al, how is that ugly dog coming along? Her pretty sister is just a dream, although not getting much field work.

Elsa is a wonderful gun dog and loved family member. Currently, she is being wore out by Grand-daughter #2 who is with us for a week.

Never was able to get her to swim very well. She does it only because she has to, not because she likes it. Outstanding pointer and retreiver.

Al, Eva is not much of a water dog either, but will bring back rubber ducks all day long if I'm in the water with her. Every trip to water, she has to be convinced all over again that she can swim. Good luck on the Model 32 book. Have you pumped Babe for information? He loves to tell me stories about building smallbore barrels for 32s when he was a teenager.

I have worked on a number of 32's,K 32's,and K 80's. Two weeks ago it was a very early K 32 with a K type of trigger, but a frame of a 32. The serial # less than 200.In two other cases the guns were early K's with 32 internals. The K people said "good luck on finding parts".I think that the transition to Germany involved the DuPoints(as I have been told) and the guns have evolved internally over the years ( including several versions of the K 80).Being "told" is perhaps not the actual fact. That includes the "told" that Miller of the trigger family was not happy with the newer trigger system. A very detailed article of how to convert a 32 to K is to be found in "American Gunsmith" Volume XIX Number 11 November 2004. Good luck on buying all of the parts as the factory will not part with the sears.

Interesting post! About 40 years ago one of my customers asked to watch for a model 32 remington with 32" vent rib barrels. He wanted it to shoot doubles. In fact he shot doubles at every registered shoot in southern CAL! They reffered to him as Dr. Doubles. He is long gone. It was only last year that I finally saw one that was in reasonable shape. I did not buy it but still chuckle about the whole thing as he would ask me every time he saw me if I had found one yet!! Personally they are to much of a pain to work on to consider one for myself just like its progeny the kriegoff 32. If you doubt me just try to change firing pins in a reasonable smount of time. Or better yet try getting a hinky trigger to operate with reliability for any reasonable length of time. All that said they were a elegent O&U.

William, apparently Howard Miller installed his trigger in several of the prototype Krieghoffs. Which particular "newer trigger system" are you referring to when you say that Miller was not happy with it?

eightbore,I don't think it was the trigger he was unhappy with, it was the fact that they stole his design.He told me they finally gave him or offered him some stock.
