Walt, I was looking at them online and I see there's a $2k jump from the mid grade to the highest grade. Other than wood quality and the obvious gold inlays, are there any other differences?

Chuck, none that I am aware of. I am going for a special upgrade. Ithaca's engraver, Bill Mains and I have settles on a 'dollar' grade type pattern. I have to get photos of the engraving patterns to their stock maker. I have never custom ordered a gun and probably never will after this one. You only live once on this world. There was a gun with upgraded wood for sale on one of the usual web sites.

Walt, Sounds like a great gun in the making.
I wasn't aware that they'd do any special requests. Is this something available to the public?

Chuck, Just checked with the factory. The answer is 'if you have the money, they have the time.'

Walt & Co., does the "New Ithaca" factory give tours to visiting firepersons? I would purely like to do that!

I think they do but a call ahead would be a good idea.

I have an Ithaca 37 2 brl set, 12 ga. 1 brl 26" IC., and a 30"FC, both with solid ribs, about 95%+. serial no.5029XX.Don't know if it was sent back at a later date for the 26" set or not. Nice gun.
