I just sold a gun to a c&r holder in IL. Will he also have to send me a copy of his FOID along with his C&R? It is a C&R eligible gun.

No. The firearms owner's identification card is worthless outside of Illinois. A copy of his C&R is all that's needed.

An outrage that's been around since the late 60's or very early 70's I believe. I don't know how they ever got that one through back in those days.

We talked recently about not being free with your driver's license. Since then, I've sent a scanned picture of my driver's license, my concealed carry permit and my C & R(when appropriate) to a seller. This is just a scan print and gives the shipper some evidence of who I really am. I still don't like to give my actual driver's license over into the hands of a "security" gourd, some clerk at the cashier's counter, at a sporting clays range, or the like. When I was working, I refused to give my driver's license to a "security gourd" to ensure that I would return their visitor's badge. Why would I want to steal their "stinking badges". Give my the pass or your machine won't get fixed. It worked.

It's a handgun. Does that change anything? Still C&R.

As of right now if it's a handgun it can't be legally shipped to someone living in the City of Chicago. Hopefully McDonald vs. The City of Chicago, which is being argued before the U S Supreme Court at this time, will eventually change that outrageous restriction on our 2nd Amendment rights.
