I am thinking of removing a swivel mount on a Beretta AS12E and am seeking your thoughts on the project. I plan on placing copper heat sinks on both side of the lower barrel and heating the lower end of the mount with my propane torch. Do you think it will work or will my barrel ribs come off? The mount is just soldered on, right (not brazed, silver soldered, or welded)? I will reblue the barrels when done.

A safer way would be to use a large soldering iron. Much more control of where the heat goes. If no iron is available wire and nail down the ribs just to be safe and carefully use a torch.
