Like Replacement said, six lb. 10 ounces is not that heavy. I would want the gun to be about that heavy even for the uplands. That's because you want to be shooting your game gun on targets in the off season, and why get beat up doing it? I see retired guys hunting with 1187s all the time, and those weigh close to 8 lbs!

I don't know if 11-87's are lighter than 1100's , my 1100 12 ga. with 25 1/2" vent rib weighed over 8 lbs.

First off, who makes a 6lb. 10oz. SxS in 20 ga., and why? Going with that weight gives up the one advantage 20s have over 16s qnd 12s. All you're left with are the disadvantages of less versatility and lighter loads.

Once had a 20ga Syracuse Arms Grade A ejector that weighed a solid 7lbs. 28" bbls both bored to full choke. I tried it on some clays thrown with one of those Trius Traps you bolt to your spare tire & it shot well & powdered the clays. It must have been one of the SAC's made in their declining period because it's workmanship certainly didn't live up to what many here seem to think of them. A 7 lb full choke 20ga not being high on my desirability list & quality not as expected I traded her off & never regretted it.

Let's do the math... 6lb 10oz is 106oz. 6lb 4oz is 100oz even. Looks like the gun is 6% overweight then... Is that a big deal?

My 16g 1911 OOE LC Smith with 30" brls is 6# 10 oz and 1906 2E with 28" brls is 6# 8oz. Why carry a 20 when you can have a 16?
BTW: William Larkin Moore has a very nicely re-stocked Iver Johnson 16g, 30", F/more F that weighs 7 1/2#. Same weight as my 1915 12g Sterly with 30" brls. Why carry a 16 when you can have a 12?

Sorry Chuck: If you'll check this thread you'll see I'm currently in a state of 'diminished capacity' and can not be held responsible for any gun offers
