The H&H 500/.450 and the Fred Adolph Combo, along with some other Roosevelt guns were in the Richard P. Mellon Collection until 1985 when they were bought by Greg Martin. Soon after that an African safari was set up with TR IV, Larry Wilson, and Martin, among others. They retraced some of the hunting grounds originally traversed by TR's 1909-10 safari and they used TR's old guns. The safari was filmed for a movie called "IN THE BLOOD"(1990). There was a big grass fire that trapped part of the party in a Land Cruiser. The Fred Adolph gun, Kermit's Model 1895 Winchester and a Colt SAA were strapped in the Land Cruiser when the fire overwhelmed it and the guns were destroyed. Hunter/Guide, Bilu Dean was killed.
You can read about this story in the new B&C Club book, "THEODORE ROOSEVELT, HUNTER-CONSERVATIONIST".
