Ironman5, Congratulations. You are lucky on many levels. Not too many stocking gun shops would just seemingly pull a price out of the air for a small gauge Parker. If they did, it would be more often be too high rather than too low. For over a grand more than you eventually paid, most would say "Money talks, etc., etc." and sell it for the higher offer. It is also surprising that another customer did not grab it before you had the chance to come back.
Considering the above and the fact that several folks here did enough digging to actually find it, my advice would be to take a small small portion of your savings on this great buy and use it to purchase a Blue Book.
A true sign of mental illness is any gun owner who would vote for an Anti-Gunner like Joe Biden.

A Blue Book is worthless! It is as counterfeit as a three dollar bill.

It's pretty despicable the way the average person behaves when confronted with an opportunity to screw someone else.
That said, I learned years ago that when a good deal comes along, you jump on it...like right now. You don't go home to think about it, and you certainly don't announce the facts on the internet beforehand. You got lucky this time but next time don't mess around.

GregSy,
Amen brother. I agree, that I certainly got lucky. Lesson well learned.
Don, I also agree that when it comes to doubleguns, most of the "price guides" are about worthless. That would be a good project for one of our experts - a value guide dedicated to only double guns. It would be a big seller here on this sight at least.
Best regards,
(better pics added soon)

Ironman5, you're lucky to have dealt with an honest man. I made a similar deal by telephone with a dealer many years ago who agreed to sell me a 20ga. Parker GHE skeet gun for an unheard of low price. He sent my check back to me saying he had accidentally closed his safe door on the barrels... I wonder who got that gun and at what price...

I don't think I'd name names even if I knew them. I think it's probably more my fault than anything. I was stupid enough to talk specifics before I had secured the Parker. I often forget that we live in the age where the words we type today may come back to bite us tomorrow. Even though I wouldn't conduct business the same way - the double edged sword of the Internet, has made true "bargains" hard to come by, so you can't blame people for trying. Had I not been able to come up with the money - someone would have been glad they called and left the messages. If I had a bigger "gun fund" I would have bought it right away and this minor drama all could have been avoided. I was fortunate to be dealing with good people and lucky to own a small bore Parker. Yeeeha!

Ironman, you're a bigger hearted man than I. I am very glad that you got the Parker and that no one was able to derail your deal. Let us all be fore-warned by Ironman's experience with trusting his 'internet friends' with his business!...Geo
