Hey guys, Someone sent this to me today and thought I would share.
Doctors: (A) The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.
(B) Accidental deaths caused by Physicians pre year are 120,000.
© Accidental deaths per physician are 0.171. Statistics courtesy of U.S. Dept. of Health Human Services.
Guns: (A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000. Yes, that is 80 million.
(B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups is 1,500.
© The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is 0.000188.
Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.
Remember, "Guns don't kill people, doctors do."
Fact: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE DOCTOR.
Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand.
Out of concern for the public at large, I have withheld the statistics on lawyers for the fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical attention.
The 2nd Amendment IS an unalienable right.

Although I wouldn't be surprised if the numbers were in the same direction, I think it's the intentional gun deaths the anti's are concerned about.
Still, no wonder I don't like going to see that quack!

There is an 18th Cent. song from the Beggers Opera. "Man may 'scape from rope and gun, Others from the Doctor's pill. But, he who tastes woman must be undone, That basilisk is sure to kill. The fly that sips treacle is lost in the sweets. Thus he who tastes woman ruine meets! "
So who is the most dangerous? I vote for the later! David

Made up statistics...check out this link http://webappa.cdc.gov/sasweb/ncipc/mortrate9.htmlIt is the Center for Disease Contol's Injury Mortality rates for 1991-1998. The accidental deaths attributed to firearms in 1998 was 866 for the whole country. Suicide accounted for 17,424 firearms deaths. Homicide accounted for 11,798 firearms deaths. "Legal Intervention" accounted for 304 firearms deaths, although I don't have the definition of "legal intervention". Oddly, "suicide" was included in "Violence related". I typically consider violence to suggest one person harming another, not a person harming themselves. Todd

You need to compare apples with apples:
Intentional firearm murders = ~11,000 per year Intentional doctor assisted deaths = ~38 per year in Oregon
I don't live in Oregon, so I think I am safe with my doctor.
